What is a “solo jump”

  • Theory in a few topics – what a parachute is, how to control it, what is the best position during freefall, and what to do if something goes wrong.
  • Enough practice on the ground before getting on the plane.
  • A written test that is passed with at least 75% correct answers.
  • A jump with two instructors who will be with you during freefall, guiding you till the parachute deployment and providing radio navigation for a safe landing.
  • It is carried out individually, after discussing the options for dates and airport and depending on weather conditions.
  • Duration – typically, the theory and test take about 6 hours, followed by the jump if conditions allow; otherwise, the jump will take place the next day.
